This section is dedicated to tips for keeping your Windows computer secure. Some of the measures that I’ll discuss are related to antivirus, antispyware, firewalls, updating, and online safety habits. With Windows operating systems running on around 90% of the desktop computers today, it’s an attractive target for malware and criminals.
Even in the age of smartphones, the majority of people use a computer for at least some portion of their work (including personal lives). So it’s still imperative that you keep your computer safe and secure. There are many attitudes towards security, but I prefer the layered approach.
The layered approach begins with your modem/router. Then it moves on to the computer by using a firewall. Once you’re in the computer, there should be a combination of antivirus and antispyware applications keeping the computer safe. Finally, the layered approach deals with online safety habits (such as passwords, using https whenever available, safe browsing, etc).
Each of these measures are treated as a separate section.
