As you can see by the sidebar, I’m playing around with Twitter and various API’s for it. Right now, I’m using TweetDeck for the most part. On Kubuntu, I’m using Twhirl, as TweetDeck doesn’t work properly with KDE 4.x.
If you haven’t tried Twitter, then I suggest giving it a shot. I wasn’t too interested in it until this past week or so. Now, I’m pretty much addicted to it (at least for now). It’s sort of like facebook, myspace, and blogs all wrapped up into one package. You can follow anyone you want, and they can decide if they want to follow you or not. And you don’t have to follow someone if they’re following you.
You have 140 characters to describe what you want. You can “tweet” about anything, or nothing at all. You can ramble or describe something. You can pimp yourself or someone else. And depending on how serious you take it, you can get into a virtual friendship or even family with people. You get to know each other as personally as you want. So, you can tell your entire life story, or make up a story…. All within 140 characters.
Twitter works with their website, various programs like TweetDeck and Twhirl, and even your cell phone. If you’ve signed up for Twitter, you can send the “tweet” to 40404 and it will update your twitter (as long as you’ve configured your device in the settings).
I know that I may burn out on Twitter after a while. But for now, it’s a fun pastime in which I’m getting some good information.
Have a great day:)
